The Mothers’ Milk Bank of Montana is one of 26 nonprofit milk banks in the United States and Canada that exist to provide human donor milk to the most vulnerable babies. The standards for nonprofit milk banking are set by the Human Milk Bank Association of North America (HMBANA), which was established in 1985. HMBANA promotes the health of babies and mothers through the provision of safe pasteurized donor milk and support of breastfeeding. In the last year, HMBANA milk banks processed over 6,800 donor moms and dispensed 3.77 million ounces of donor milk to help babies survive and thrive.
